Due to the dynamics of a global economy, an infinite mobility is generated. Even though site locations are following concepts of flexibilisation, people are still bounded to fixed concepts of identity.
Discovering a lack of mental resources in our culture of nations, the recently published anthology Life Model Diaspora – About Modern Nomads (Lebensmodell Diaspora – Über moderne Nomaden), edited by Isolde Charim and Gertraud Auer Borea, investigates the life model diaspora. Here the term diaspora rather gets used as a synonym of experiences for global living than as a term for displacement and suffering.
On March 29, the Vienna-based Bruno Kreisky Forum für internationalen Dialog will host the upcoming book presentation with a keynote by Saskia Sassen: When Territory itself becomes Nomadic: The Paradox of the National, a film (trilogy) screening of …and Europe will be stunned by Yael Bartana and a discussion with the editor Isolde Charim, Saskia Sassen, Yael Bartana, Galit Eilat, writer, curator and the founding director, and Slawomir Sierakowski, founder and editor of Krytyka Polityczna, (tbc).
